Even though Jason Statham has confirmed his return in Fast and Furious 8, there is no telling if his character, Deckard Shaw, will continue on the villainous path.

More importantly, even if he is still fighting against Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and crew, will Shaw be the prime antagonist in the next movie or a minor irritant. It would be exciting if Fast and Furious 8 brought in a new baddie, someone that adds to the intrigue of the plot.

There has also been a lot of speculation about Shaw maybe changing sides and actually helping Toretto.

Statham had confirmed the news about his return earlier last year. Making an appearance for the launch of the Fast and Furious based theme ride, Supercharged, at Universal Studios Hollywood, he even dished some about the franchise's success.  

The actor to Access Hollywood on the red carpet talking about Furious 7's immense success.

"Yeah, it just shows the fanbase is very unique. They really do relate to the characters. They love these characters. They've followed them for years and years," Statham said.

The actor also talked his excitement at returning for the next movie in the franchise.

"We're already talking about doing another one, Part 8. I'm a newcomer, I just got invited to the party on this last one. It is nice to know I'll be doing another."

While Statham was careful about not giving away any spoilers he did admit to the fact that he knew about some of the storylines in the plot for Fast and Furious 8, saying, "There is some great stuff that I already know about."

Fast and Furious 8 will be released on April 15, 2017.

Furious 7 hit theaters on April 3, 2015.
