David Copperfield's plane was forced to make an emergency landing on Monday while he was en route to appear on The Today Show.

The 56-year-old magician got onboard a plane in Las Vegas bound for New York when a harsh batch of in-air turbulence cut the trip short mid-flight.

Copperfield updated his fans during the ordeal with a series of tweets which began with the message that announced the "Emergency landing" at around 4 a.m. when the plan started experiencing difficulties.

He posted another message an hour later that announced the plane had landed at the Peoria airport in Illinois saying that the incident was "so scary."

The illusionist was able to Skype his appearance with the NBC morning show from the Illinois airport where he recounted his troubled journey.

"We were 37,000 feet in the air and I recorded (the strange noise) because it was lasting for a long time,'' Copperfield said, according to The Today Show.  "I heard this sound (crackling), and it wouldn't stop. I felt kind of freaked out and they told us we have to  go back for our descent. We were going in a spiral with G force, and we finally got to the ground...and it turned out there was snow all around.''

The magician's interview was supposed to kick off a series of special tricks titled Today's Magic Mondays with David Copperfield where he performs a trick for Matt Lauer and the rest of morning show crew.

Copperfield was also able to perform an impromptu magic trick that was recorded in one of the hangers at the Peoria airport where he conjured an orange vested worker out of thin air.

The award-winning performer is currently headlining a magic show at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino on the Las Vegas strip.
