Former Spice Girl Mel B started off on a sour note during the first taping of America's Got Talent in New Orleans yesterday.

First act, popular New Orleans band, Lagniappe Brass Band, received negative feedback from Mel B which enticed boos from the audience. Mel B said she wasn't a fan of brass music, a staple in the jazziest of cities, causing audience members to yell "Go Home," according to TMZ.

Howie Mandell comforted Scary Spice amidst the roaring crowd.

Heidi Klum also started as a judge for her first time with America's Got Talent, which is on its eighth season.

Lagniappe Brass Band consists of seven musicians and has logged 250-plus shows a year both nationally and internationally. The name "lagniappe" is a Cajun-French term meaning, "something given or obtained gratuitously or by way of good measure," according to the band's site.

The band consists of founder Chet Overall, Josh Brown, Wes Anderson, Jimmy Brinkman, Jams Marotta, Mario Abney and James Williams.

Mel B had previously starred in a reality show about her life titled It's A Scary World. The show aired in 2010 and had two seasons and was on the Style Network.
