The promo specifically stated that these would be the "final nine episodes" of the series. The official Twitter account for the show also posted the clip, which declares season 7 as the final chapter:

The end has been rumored for quite sometime now, and recently Juliana Margulies, who plays Alicia, only made them stronger.

Could Hillary Clinton Guest Star In An Upcoming Episode?

Speaking at an event honoring Kings at the Casting Society of America's third annual Artios Awards, Margulies revealed that she would be out of work very soon.

"I surprised Robert and Michelle tonight," she said. "They didn't know I was going to be here. They think I'm here for them, but I'm unemployed come April, and I think you haven't seen me in a while, at least not in person, so I thought I should show up."

Previously, after news broke that the creators of The Good Wife are set to stop writing for the show after season 7, rumours about this chapter being the last took over.

Deadline also explored the possibility with CBS Entertainment President Glenn Geller. At the time, according to Geller the Kings leaving did not imply that this would be end of the critically acclaimed legal drama, revealing that they had a lot of rich talent to tap into.

"The Kings did say they would not be returning after this year, but we have a deep bench on the show," he said.

He went on to hint that the fate of the show depended on the new projects CBS will be trying out. So somewhere the continuation of the show was also linked to the success of upcoming pilots. Geller suggested that after considering the new pilots they will take a decision, and The Good Wife "can certainly continue."

The next episode, 'Monday,' of The Good Wife will air on February 14 on CBS.
