Chelsea Handler may have made a dig at Taylor Swift and Angelina Jolie when she appeared on Watch What Happens Live on Tuesday, but she was kind enough to end her feud with TODAY host Matt Lauer.

Handler appeared on TODAY on Monday and was interviewed by Lauer to promote her E! series, After Lately. Lauer began their chat by thanking her for "ending this simmering feud that we apparently had going."

Lauer was in such a good mood about her visit that he joked: "I have so many feuds going with so many people right now I can't even remember exactly what we were feuding about."

Handler responded with light humor adding that he has a "worse reputation" than she does.

"I realize that. You're very controversial," Handler joked. "You're worse than I am, actually. "

"I was just making fun of you or Al or somebody and then it got carried away," said Handler. "And apparently the NBC brass had to come and talk to me and say, 'Back off of Matt Lauer'," she admitted.

Enstars reported that the late night talk show host, who is known for her acid tongue, was reportedly told to quit ripping into TODAY anchor in January. Handler, 37, and her staff of writers received the warning from Comcast- the brass that owns both NBC and E!- after she made a dig about the Lauer's purported feud with Ann Curry after she was fired from the morning show in June.

After TODAY weatherman Al Roker shared an embarrassing admission on Dateline that he "pooped" in his pants during a press visit at the White House at the time, Handler cracked a joke where she digged into both Roker and Lauer.

"This isn't the first time a TODAY show cast member was in the news about this sensitive subject," Handler joked about Roker's confession. "For years, it was common knowledge that Matt Lauer spent every morning s***ting all over Ann Curry."

A source revealed that Handler and her staff were told to no longer mention Lauer in her jokes.

"Chelsea's writers were warned to lay off Matt," a source close to the show told New York Post. "They don't want them making more fun of Matt and the Ann Curry situation right now."

Handler did not have the best relationship with TODAY staff before the joke, according to the report.

The comedian and author canceled an appearance on the show at the last minute in November. Handler's rep told New York Post at the time that she quit the appearance due to "food poisoning" but later that night Handler appeared on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and said, "That was a lie ... I wasn't sick."
