Grease Live! Star Vanessa Hudgens and her boyfriend Austin Butler could find themselves in some legal hot water after carving their names into some rocks during a romantic getaway to Sedona over the Valentine's Day weekend.

The couple reportedly defaced some of the region's famous red rocks by carving their names into one of the formations and circling them with a heart--an offense that lead to either jail time or a fine, because it breaks a federal law that prohibits "damaging natural surfaces or property of the United States."

Hudgens posted the image, along with a series of others, to Instagram, which reportedly triggered the investigation (the photo in question has since been deleted).

According to TMZ, if the pair are found guilty, the maximum punishment for the violation is a $5,000 fine and/or 6 month in jail, though it is unlikely the celebrity couple will be forced to do time.

Since the news broke, Hudgens' fans have taken to commenting on her remaining photos from the weekend away, with several berating she and Butler on an image of them together for their actions.

"I think its only common sense not to vandalize the Sedona rocks," one wrote.

"Carving your name into a rock formation in a National Forest? Incredibly stupid," another added.

"I really hope you didn't carve your name into the rocks. For someone who seems to be so in touch with the Earth it would be really disappointing," one said.

"Deface your own property. Idiot. Please, never come back to AZ," another wrote.

"You're the worst, you say you love the earth then literally destroy it," another added.

Neither Hudgens nor Butler have spoken up about the situation.
