In a sneak peek at Lifetime's upcoming reality series The Mother/Daughter Experiment, Richards and Jackson are seen discussing how their life has changed since Richards began appearing on the Bravo reality series.

"It's been a roller coaster ride," Richards said, according to a report by PEOPLE Magazine on Monday. "Being part of the Housewives has been an experience. It really hurt me because I was struggling with certain things."

"I feel like I'm her caretaker because she's fragile physically and emotionally. And it does overwhelm me," Jackson explained during a separate interview.

As she watched her daughter speak privately on film, Richards said, "I need to remember how my decisions do affect Kimberly."

Jackson also explained that because of the negativity surrounding Richards' reality persona, as well as the backlash she's received from fans, she felt "like somebody needs to protect her."

Later in the sneak peek, during a group therapy session, Richards hinted there was more to her issues than just addiction, telling the group, "There is something that's going on at home that has nothing [to do with this]... There's other things."
