Kim Richards lost her ex-husband, Monty Brinson, to cancer months ago, and in a new interview, she opened up about the tragedy.

Report: Kim Richards Lost Her 'Best Friend' When Monty Brinson Died

Around the time of her return to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, which featured a very emotional conversation between herself and her sister, Kyle Richards, Kim recalled the moment Brinson passed away.

"He was glad that he was going first because he didn't think he could bare it if it was me and he had to be left here," Richards told Entertainment Tonight on Tuesday. "I said, 'I love you,' and then I felt him just kind of leave, and it was shocking. I just didn't expect it."

While Kim and Monty were married for just three years in the 80s, they shared a child together, daughter Brooke Brinson-Weiderhorn, and had remained close in the years since their split. 

After Brinson's death, Kim shared a touching post with fans.

"Yesterday I said goodbye to best the friend I've ever had in my life. Monty was an amazing person with an amazing soul. We shared over 30 years of Love & Happiness and brought a beautiful daughter into world. I am so grateful for all that we shared," Kim captioned an Instagram photo. "I know we will be together again one day. I love you Monty my angel in heaven. .and I know that we be together again one day. I will carry you in my heart always my love...until then, may you rest in peace."
