  • 'Power Rangers' is a long-running entertainment and merchandising franchise built around a live action children's television series featuring teams of costumed heroes. Despite initial criticism for its action violence targeted to child audiences, the franchise has continued, and as of 2016 the show consists of 23 television seasons of 19 different themed series and two theatrical films, with a third film coming out in 2017.

In 2010, Haim Saban, creator of the series, regained ownership of the franchise after seven years under The Walt Disney Company.

'Power Rangers Ninja Steel' will be the 2017 edition of Power Rangers. Nickelodeon provided IGN with an official synopsis revealing that the Power Rangers are protecting an item called the Spirit Crystal from the forces of Zircon, the champion of the universe's most popular intergalactic game show, who wants the Crystal, which contains six magical Ninja Power Throwing Stars, to become invincible. The Rangers must master the arsenal of throwing stars, Zords, and Megazords, all made from the titular legendary "ninja steel", to stop Zircon's warrior contestants sent to Earth to retrieve the Crystal for him. This season uses footage from Shuriken Sentai Ninninger.
  • Elizabeth Banks joins the cast as Rita Repulsa. Banks is an actress, producer, and director and is best known for her roles in such films as Wet Hot American Summer, Sam Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy (2002–07), Seabiscuit (2003), The 40-Year-Old Virgin (2005), and The Hunger Games films (2012–15).

An evil alien witch bent on galactic domination, Rita Repulsa was the first villain the Power Rangers had to face. Most discernible by her two pointed hair cones, one may also recognize her by her screeching voice, Madonna-like cone bra, and obnoxious attitude. While she is sadistic and power hungry, her character would usually become humorous whenever the Power Rangers defeated her; this would end with the catchphrase "I've got such a headache!"
  • Naomi Scott as Kimberly Hart / The Pink Ranger. Scott also starred as Mohini "Mo" Banjaree in the Disney Channel Original Movie Lemonade Mouth and as Megan in TV series Life Bites. In 2013, Scott appeared in the music video for the song "Hurricane", by her Lemonade Mouth co-star Bridgit Mendler.

Kimberly was one of the original five Power Rangers chosen by Zordon when Rita Repulsa attacked Earth following her release from containment. Kimberly received the Pterodactyl Power Coin and the Pterodactyl Dinozord, thus becoming the Pink Power Ranger.
  • Becky G. as Trini Kwan / The Yellow Ranger. Rebbeca Marie Gomez or Becky G. is a singer, songwriter, rapper, and actress. She gained recognition in 2011, after she posted several videos of herself performing remixes of popular songs on to YouTube. In 2014, Gomez had her first Billboard Hot 100 entry, with "Shower", peaking at No. 16.

Trini was chosen for her compassion, quick wits and martial arts talent becoming the Yellow Power Ranger, given the Saber-Toothed Tiger Power Coin and the Saber-Toothed Tiger Dinozord. Trini is well-versed in kung fu. She would later become proficient in the art of Praying Mantis Kung Fu. Trini's signature fighting style included lightning fast maneuvers, and powerful high kicks.
  • Dacre Montgomery as Jason Lee Scott / The Red Ranger. Montgomery is an actor, known for Betrand the Terrible (2010), Power Rangers (2017) and A Few Less Men.

Jason is best remembered as the original Red Ranger and as well as the leader of the original team of Power Rangers. Jason was voted as the #1 Red Ranger of all time. Out of all Red Rangers, he has defeated more enemies by himself than any other Ranger.

Red Power Ranger, is given the Power Coin of the Tyrannosaurus "Dinozord" (a type of Transformer-esque robot), obtains the Tyrannosaurus Dinozord, and is made the team leader. He leads the Rangers into many successful battles against Rita's monsters, establishing a rivalry with Rita's number one henchman Goldar.
  • RJ Cyler as Billy Cranston / The Blue Ranger. Cyler is best known for his role in the 2015 film 'Me and Earl and the Dying Girl'.

Billy became the Blue Power Ranger and was given both the Triceratops Power Coin and the Triceratops Dinozord. He was considered the brains of the Power Rangers team, creating many gadgets with which to solve problems that not even Zordon foresaw, and he even invented the first team's wrist-worn communication devices.
  • Ludi Lin as Zack Taylor / The Black Ranger.

Zack was chosen as the Black Power Ranger, gaining the Mastodon Power Coin and the Mastodon Dinozord. Quick-witted and clever, Zack relies on a combination of skill, strength, and agility to win his battles. The original Black Ranger is an energetic, charismatic, and fun-loving young man. He enjoys athletics (such as basketball, American football, and scuba diving), dancing (especially to a fresh beat bumping out his friend's boombox), parties, and girls.
  • Dean Israelite is a director, writer and producer, best known for directing found footage film 'Project Almanac'. In April 2015, Israelite was hired by Lionsgate to direct the Power Rangers film, based on the script by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz.
