Chicken fried rice is a classic Chinese comfort food which can be served either as a main dish or side dish.

In this fundamental Chinese dish, cooked egg is shredded and mixed with a stir fry of chicken, rice and onion in soy sauce.

To make the Chinese classic, you need 1 egg, 1 tablespoon water, 1 tablespoon butter, 1 tablespoon vegetable oil, 1 onion, chopped, 2 cups cooked white rice (cold), 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 1 teaspoon ground black pepper, and 1 cup cooked chopped chicken meat.

Preparation time is about 5 minutes with 10 minutes cooking time, so the overall dish will be read in no less than 15 minutes.

To start cooking, beat egg with water in a small bowl. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium low heat. Add egg and leave flat for 1 to 2 minutes. Remove from skillet and cut into shreds. Then heat oil in same skillet; add onion and saute until soft. Then add rice, soy sauce, pepper and chicken. Stir fry together for about 5 minutes, and then stir in egg. Serve hot. Enjoy!
