Ireland vs Italy takes place in the Six Nations Rugby Union Championship on Saturday with Ireland hoping to end a disappointing campaign with a win. However, that will not be easy as Italy have proven tricky opposition for all sides this season - especially when playing in Rome.

The game is scheduled to kick off at 2.30 p.m. UK time and can be watched online through live stream by clicking here.

Ireland lie in fourth place in the Six Nations table coming into this game - an unthinkably low position when the championship started. They have won just one game, losing two and drawing one - meaning they are below Scotland in the table.

Much talk in the Ireland camp now surrounds the future of coach Declan Kidney, as well as whether record appearance holder Brian O’Driscoll will continue for much longer.

Ireland have gone through a three match winless streak in this year’s Six Nations, which is their worst run in the Six Nations ever. That means even if Ireland win today, most are predicting that Kidney’s contract will not be renewed. If they lose today that will be an almost certainty.

Kidney has defended the Irish performance in the Six Nations this year, saying: “We've lost two matches by a combined total of 10 points. A couple of small things and you could be in the winner's enclosure very quickly.”

However, a loss is a loss, and those words will ring hollow in the disappointed ears of thousands of Irish fans.

Ireland have won their last 17 matches against Italy, and have never lost against them in the Six Nations throughout their 13 encounters in the championship.

Italy have to look all the way back to 1997 to the last time they defeated the Irish - a 37-22 win that came in Bologna. But if Italy can win today they will have won two games in a Six Nations campaign for only the second time - the first time coming in 2007.
