Jamie Fraser's hair will remain as shaggy as ever, even through the events of "Untimely Resurrection."

Set to air as episode 5, the upcoming hour bears the name of a particularly heart-wrenching chapter from Diana Gabaldon's Dragonfly In Amber. If you are not familiar with the plot of the novels, you may want to stop reading here.

SPOILERS AHEAD

As many of you already know, Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) have not seen the last of Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies). The sadistic Redcoat did not meet his demise at the end of season 1, and he should return to cause mayhem in the aptly titled fifth episode. When he does, Jamie will want to issue a duel, ending his pain as he ends Randall's life.

In preparation, Jamie cuts his hair to keep it out of his eyes, letting it fall to the apartment floor. Ultimately, the pair do not square off until much later in the novel (check out photos from filming for the duel!).

Despite what the book says, recent statements from Jamie seem to indicate that the Highlander's haircut did not make the script.

"Yes, I would love to cut my hair," Heughan teased in an interview with Essential TV. "I think it's an integral part of Jamie. It would have been nice to play it in the show, maybe; somehow, somewhere."

Balfe's ensuing statements then reveal that the matter is touchy subject, and it appears as if execs and Heughan may have had different opinions on the subject.

"Maybe it will still come to pass, without giving away too much," the Scotsman then teased.

As far as set photos are concerned, Jamie sports the same look in the season 2 premiere as he does when he and Black Jack take up arms against each other. In fact, Heughan's hair spills into his face even more than normal as he works up a sweat fencing with his mortal enemy.
