She doesn't open up much about her personal life, but Eva Mendes will admit that her one-year-old daughter Esmeralda plays a big role in influencing her style these days.

The actress and fashion designer opened up to Glamour Magazine about her newest collection with New York and Company and the things that have inspired her over the years as she designs new pieces for the collection. And these days, one of those things that has inspired her personal style is her daughter with Ryan Gosling.

"It's about how I can get out of the house faster, or how I can make this easier on myself," she said about Esmeralda's influence. "It's usually a dress because I don't have to think about coordinating or putting together an outfit. Just a really comfortable dress I can throw on, and depending on what hour of the day or where I'm going I can wear a higher heel or no heel. A dress I can count on and slip on in a minute makes it more stress-free for me."

She also said that that aspect of her own life has helped influence her as her line continues to grow, because she understands that a mother's life can be complicated enough without having to think about the clothes she's putting on her body.

"That's what I'm hoping the line does now that we have shoes and handbags. I'm hoping it can make women's lives a little easier by saying, 'Here you go. If you don't have time to think about it or you don't want to think about it, I've thought about it for you. This works,'" she said.

As for something she misses with her fashion? Being a mother of a young child has kept her from one of her favorite accessories on a daily basis—earrings.

"I've learned that earrings and babies aren't a good mix," she said. "My daughter loves to pull them, which can be really fun for her, and not so much for me. They've become a luxury, and I'm looking forward to wearing them again at some point."
