'American Idol' Season 15 Top 10 Results

It was announced last week that the alumni, who came in at second place in the eighth season, will be performing in this Thursday's episode of the final season. And it was revealed in Entertainment Weekly on Monday that the singer will be performing his new single "Welcome to the Show."

"I wanted to surprise my fans with a new, uplifting anthem for our spring," Lambert said in a release. "I asked Max Martin for help and he paired me up with two great writers and producers; Ali Payami, who worked with me on 'Ghost Town,' and Swedish star Laleh who is also a featured vocalist on the track. I feel this song will give people strength to be exactly who they are."

"Ghost Town" was one of Lambert's biggest hits on the album The Original High, which was followed by "Another Lonely Night." In a previous interview with Official Charts, Lambert opened up on why he decided to choose that next song as his new hit.

"Picking the second single was hard!" he said. "It's a great position to be in- we really felt like there's a lot of radio-friendly songs on the album and a lot of directions we could go. The main thing I like to do is change it up. Even going back to American Idol, from week to week I would bounce around with different styles, genres and moods. That mentality is the same today- I don't want to repeat myself."

American Idol returns on Thursday, March 17 at 10 p.m. ET on FOX.
