She previously said she would never consider taking her husband's last name, but it appears Jenny McCarthy officially changed her tune after she and Donnie Wahlberg made their move to St. Charles, Illinois.

The big reveal was made during the season 3 premiere of the couple's reality show, Donnie Loves Jenny, when McCarthy revealed to her mother and her sister that she was changing her tune and considering making the change because after being independent for so many years, she thought it would be nice as she settled into suburban life to be more traditional.

"I like the vision of him being there that protects us and I get to be a little maker," she said during the episode.

She admitted that she was influenced by wanting to feel like a normal married couple, and she was beginning to see how taking her husband's name for her personal life but keeping her name for her professional life was a good way for her to compromise on the issue.

"There is nothing wrong with being Mrs. Wahlberg in my normal, everyday life and keeping a stage name, like a stripper," she said.

With that in mind, McCarthy secretly went behind her husband's back as he applied for a license to drive a motorcycle, and went for a driving test of her own—passing it with flying colors and getting a new license which included her husband's name on it.

She then surprised her husband with the license, which bore the name Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg, and he loved that she had done it.

"To actually see her name and my name together on her license, and know that she's taken on my name—my wife who just as hard to make her name mean something in the world—it adds such another level of pride to me," he said.
