The NCAA's March Madness tournament will kick off its round of 64 on Thursday.

The Louisville Cardinals have been extremely successful thus far, winning a portion of the Big East regular season crown and the Big East tournament.

Many are in serious debate over the Cardinals being worthy of the current No. 1 seed it obtained for the NCAA tournament, as the dominating Gonzaga Bulldogs are considered the favorite of many others. Rant Sports reported that the Louisville squad may have gotten a more friendly schedule due to the Big East being a tougher division than the West Coast Conference. The Cardinals were still beat by Villanova, a team that wasn't ranked all season.

The Bulldogs were victorious in 31 games this season and its two losses came against two No. 13-ranked teams: the Illinois Fighting Illini and Butler Bulldogs. Gonzaga suffered no bad losses and still ended up being ranked behind the Cardinals by the selection committee.

If Duke hadn't been defeated by Maryland in the ACC tournament, the Blue Devils would've actually ended its regular season with a better record than Louisville, but most likely wouldn't have gotten the No. 1 seed over Gonzaga. The site also goes on to debate that the Florida Gators are another choice that can be argued to be No. 1 overall due to the difficulty of the Big East conference and its past tournament performances.

It also stated that perhaps the Cardinals received the No. 1 seed due to its level of play against some of the top teams in the nation.

The Louisville Bulldogs will open up the NCAA tournament against North Carolina A&T on Thursday, March 21, at 6:50 p.m. EDT, while the Gonzaga Bulldogs face Southern University on the same day as 4:10 p.m. EDT.
