Blake Lively stars in what’s being referred to as “Jaws for a new generation” – The Shallows, in which she portrays a surfer stranded alone on a rock with a great white shark surveying the waters between her and 200 yards from the shore. Oscar Jaenada and Sedona Legge will co-star in the new movie, directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and penned by Anthony Jaswinski.

As Entertainment Weekly previously reported, the trailer features Lively’s character, Mia, trapped on a rock and screaming for help while clinging to an injured leg as a shark circles around her. How did she get on that rock in the first place, and what role will Oscar and Sedona play in helping her reach the shore? Most importantly, why does Blake decide to go surfing on an isolated area? Presumably, we’ll find out this and more when The Shallows hits theaters June 24.
