Although Fox News' Bill O'Reilly continues to call into question the true authenticity of President Barack Obama's Catholic supporters, he's currently in the midst of some religious controversy of his own, via the details of his past divorce to ex-wife Maureen McPhilmy.

Gawker had reported that O'Reilly is looking to annul his previous marriage and allegedly have his estranged wife kicked out of the Catholic Church.

The site also went on to say that the church had gained knowledge of the matter and McPhilmy was actually reprimanded by the parish for continuing to participate at her Long Island church although she'd been divorced and remarried, which is apparently considered a no-no in the eyes of the Pope.

Not pulling any punches, O'Reilly also tried to utilize his close ties with the Nassau County police department to conduct an internal affairs investigation after finding out McPhilmy was involved with a detective on the force. Since the divorce, McPhilmy had gone on to tie the knot with the respective detective.

McPhilmy and O'Reilly are now said to be in the middle of a nasty custody battle over their two children.

At a hearing conducted in January, McPhilmy's attorney claimed that O'Reilly's attorney didn't deny that Lynne Kulakowski, who had been a neutral party between the former couple, was collecting a six-figure salary from the political talking head.

Seattle Pi reported that the arbiter has been working both days and some nights at the home of O'Reilly.

McPhilmy's attorney's argument called into question Kulakowski's appointment as a neutral arbiter of the former couple's disputes.

Initially, a lower court refused McPhilmy's hearing request in terms of O'Reilly's co-optation of the licensed social worker.

The judge had stated the following in a court opinion:

"The mother further alleged that, after execution of the agreement, the father had hired the children's therapist as a full-time employee to perform virtually all of his parental duties."
