Mischa Barton has not had the easiest time thus far on ABC's Dancing With the Stars.

Barton had the unfortunate distinction of being in the bottom 3 during Monday night's premiere of Dancing With the Stars, after the judges gave her and her partner, Artem Chigvintsev, a 16 out of 30. Nobody was eliminated at the end of the night, but Barton will likely be in trouble of possibly going home next week if America does not vote for her enough.

It was a rough night for Barton, especially when judge Len Goodman told her that she was basically "walking" during her performance, not dancing.

Barton spoke with Entertainment Weekly after the premiere and said the criticism was "harsh" but admitted she was relieved "that it's over."

The actress added, "I was more annoyed with stuff off the top, the actor-y [stuff]. I don't see all this stuff that they see all the time."

Chigvintsev added his thoughts about Barton coming out and dancing on a national stage for the first time, and how she should have received some more positive reinforcement.

"The thing is, when someone comes into a competition like this, it's quite hard to commit in general, and then to come out for the first time and perform live, doing something you've never done before, I feel like there should be more encouragement," he explained.

The actress was clearly shown to be struggling during the rehearsal package that aired before her first dance. It remains to be seen if Barton will take the criticism and use it to power through and work hard for next week or if the negative comments will stick in her mind and inhibit her progress.

Ultimately, two other celebrities scored worse than her on premiere night: Geraldo Rivera and Doug Flutie. Barton will have to hope that her fanbase from her days on The O.C. will come through for her.

Dancing With the Stars airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
