In the latest Star Trek Beyond news, parts of the movie are being re-shot with a new character.

According to a new Deadline report, actress Shohreh Aghdashloo is coming on board, and she will be playing the part of High Command of the Federation. Aghdashloo is known for her work in House Of Sand And Fog and House Of Saddam and is also the first Iranian actress to win an Emmy (2009).

Zoe Saldana, who plays an Enterprise communications officer Uhura, posted a pic on the set from Instagram revealing the old '60s-inspired uniform for Star Trek. From what we had seen from previous uniforms, they had short sleeves and were revamped some. But Saldana's latest reveal shows her in the classic uniform, which is a nod to the '60s series.

In other recent news, The Hollywood Reporter report revealed that the release date for the film had been pushed by two weeks.

Now the movie will open in theaters on July 22, which isn't too much of a change for fans as it will still be the same month. According to the report, the change in release dates is being chalked up to getting the movie a spot at IMAX. If the movie were to stick to its initial release date of July 8, it might have missed on that opportunity as Tarzan, which releases on July 1, already had a reservation.

The movie has been written by Simon Pegg and directed by Justin Lin.

One new face to look forward to will be Idris Elba, although nothing is known about his character right now. He's being played as the surprise card much like Benedict Cumberbatch in Star Trek: Into the Darkness.

In other latest casting news, it was revealed that Lydia Wilson will also be joining the crew, but little is known about her character so far.

Star Trek Beyond is the third entry in the rebooted sci-fi franchise, which already includes Star Trek (2009) and Star Trek: Into the Darkness (2013). The first two were helmed by J.J. Abrams, who's now busy heading up the Star Wars sequels, so this one is directed by Fast & Furious reviver Justin Lin with the familiar crew of Kirk (Chris Pine), Spock (Zachary Quinto), Bones (Karl Urban), Scotty (Simon Pegg), Uhura (Zoe Saldana), Sulu (John Cho) and Chekov (Anton Yelchin) all set to return.
