Rumor has it Seth Meyer may take over Jimmy Fallon in the late night show if he ends up on the Tonight Show as rumored.

Meyer, who is the the head writer for Saturday Night Live and hots of Weekend Update, is reportedly being considered to take over Fallon in the Late Night show time slot.

An unnamed source reportedly told the New York Post: "Lorne Michaels wants Seth to take over from Fallon. It would be perfect for him. Tina Fey's name had also come up, but she has said she was too busy to do it."

Meyers has been writing for SNL for 12 years and seems to be the perfect fit for the Late Night show. He currently serves as the head writer for the hit NBC show.

Fallon had recently opened up to GQ magazine about possibly taking over Jay Leno's spot on The Tonight Show. "I mean, in the nicest way, who really cares. In the nicest way," Fallon told GQ. "It would be great, sure, I guess. I'd love it, but it's not on my mind. I'm in no rush to do anything."

He also went on to say that he is not competing for the coveted Tonight Show position. "I'm kind of a boring character in that book. I'm not in a fight with Jay [Leno] or Conan [O'Brien], or any of them," Fallon said. "I don't have that story."
