It's going to be an epic night on the last moment of American Idol.

On Wednesday, CBS News released details from the show's executive producer Nigel Lythgoe who promised that viewers will be satisfied with what's to come.

"It's going to be a rather spectacular show," he said, adding there will be "other surprises."

"It's about the American idols, about reminding people of 15 seasons."

Even though the final episode is expected to have a number of big names from past seasons to come on stage and perform, Lythgoe pointed out what the show is supposed to represent.

"It isn't about big stars coming on and singing their record. American Idol was never about that," the producer said. "It was about the young stars we created."

The final four contestants of the 15th season are La'Porsha Renae, Trent Harmon, Dalton Rapattoni and MacKenzie Bourg.

Some of the past winners from the show who are set to perform include Ruben Studdard, Scotty McCreery, Fantasia Barrino and several more. Other past contestants who will take part are Katharine McPhee, LaToya London and Kellie Pickler.

Season seven contestant David Hernandez opened up on the series coming to an end and how it's affected him to this day.

"I only really associate great memories with being on that show," he said. "Even to this day, when Carrie Underwood accepts her Grammys and other awards, she says, 'Thank you, American Idol, this wouldn't be possible.' I'm so thankful just to have fans in the Philippines or in Europe who say, 'I remember you on that show. I bought your album.'"

The final episode of American Idol is set to air on Thursday, April 7 at 8 p.m. ET on FOX.
