Paramount Pictures recently released a new black-and-white poster and trailer for its upcoming zombie thriller World War Z starring Brad Pitt.

The poster features zombies piled high as they try to attack a helicopter in flight.

Marc Forster directed the film, which is an adaptation of Max Brooks' acclaimed zombie novel.

Pitt stars as Gerry Lane, a United Nations fact-finder and family man who races around the world to determine the origins of a zombie pandemic overthrowing the nation and causing vast amounts of chaos and destruction. Actress Mireille Enos, from The Killing, stars as his wife. Lane struggle to help the government fight the zombies but comes in conflict sometimes with his desire to be with his family and protect them more than anything else. One of the film's official trailers ends with Lane telling his wife over the phone, "Tell the kids I'm coming back. Just know, I'm coming back."

Foster is no stranger to directing thrillers. He was the visionary behind Monster's Ball, The Kite Runner, Finding Neverland and Quantum of Solace. World War Z is scheduled for theatrical release on June 21, 2013. The film also stars Anthony Mackie from The Hurt Locker.

A new trailer for the film, shown below, was released on iTunes Monday.

Pitt has three other films also in post-production like World War Z: Voyage of Time, scheduled to come out in 2014, and 2013's Twelve Years a Slave and The Counselor. His last film was 2012's Killing Them Softly, where he played the lead as a professional enforcer who investigates a heist that went bad.
