Chris Brown has continued to make hit songs since the assault incident with Rihanna in 2009, and said people are entitled to their opinions, even negative opinions regarding the hip hop singer.

While Brown was interviewed by Ryan Seacrest on "On Air With Ryan Seacrest," he was asked how he felt about people enjoying his music - but saying they couldn't be his fan because of what he did to Rihanna.

Brown, 23, said, "People are entitled to their opinions. I can't go around blaming. It's all about my responsibility and me growing up as a man. So I think now that I'm becoming older, and trying to mature in this life under the public eye at all times, I have to focus on doing the right thing and being more of a humble individual."

Brown said it was a learning experience for him and refused to blame the incident on his age. "I think for me that at age 18, 19, I was capable of writing and producing songs, so I'm also capable of making the right choices."

He also said he was arrogant and hotheaded, especially as a teen. "I think for me it was me not knowing how to control it when I thought I had the world in my hands," he said.

Brown and Rihanna, 25, have rekindled their relationship despite the incident. Brown said he didn't know if she's ever forgiven him.

They recorded a track together in Rihanna's latest album Unapologetic, titled Nobody's Business.

Brown's new album, Fine China, will be released in April.
