A 14-year-old Tennessee girl had going to the prom on her bucket list and after health complications lead her to the hospital on prom night, her town brought the prom to her.

Campbell County native Katelyn Norman has been suffering with bone cancer, osteosarcoma, for two years and doctors told her that now there isn't much they can do.

"They said it has spread a lot, my cancer, and that it's the beginning of the end of my days, so we started a bucket list," she said on March 21 to WATE.

A prom was thrown in her honor on March 26 but as she was on her way to the event she had to be airlifted to a hospital when she had trouble breathing. However, she didn't want the prom to be cancelled and asked that it continue, according to People.

Family and friends then threw a personalized prom in her hospital room, presenting Norman with the Prom Queen sash and a corsage. The theme of the prom was "Katie in the Sky with Diamonds" and Mayor William Bailey, who attended the prom, declared that Tuesday was Katelyn Norman Day.

"The community has always been such a great help and support to me and my family. It's just great," Norman said.

Her mother, Erica Nelson, said of the bucket list, "We just want to give her what she ain't going to see. Just try to fulfill what she wants to do, which isn't much, but it's something to her."
