Her extended contract negotiation talks led to her character being temporarily written out of the show, but fans of Elizabeth Webber (Rebecca Herbst) won't have to wait too long to see the nurse back in Port Charles on General Hospital.

Herbst has returned back to work after her contract negotiations stalled, and she is once again taping scenes, something she took a slight break from after it was unclear if she would in fact stick around, making Liz staying in the background-and off-screen-a necessary move for writers.

According to Soap Opera Digest, she will be back on-screen beginning May 4, meaning she'll be back in plenty of time for the Nurses' Ball at the end of the month, an event which marked a pivotal moment for her character in 2015.

Last year's ball saw Ric's (Rick Hearst) proposal to her interrupted by the truth about his hiring Hayden (Rebecca Budig) to pose as Jason's (Billy Miller) --then Jake-wife. Afterwards, she learned from Nikolas (Tyler Christopher) that Jake was not some unknown person, but a resurrected Jason Morgan. She chose to keep the secret for Nikolas, and pursued the romance she never had with Jason as a result-never telling him the truth about his identity.

The truth came out about his being Jason on what was supposed to be the couple's wedding day, and not long after, her role in keeping the secret was discovered, and Jason ended things with her as a result. Most recently, she has been living at Nikolas' estate after her house exploded, and she managed to discover the truth about Hayden's real identity as Rachel Berlin.

Herbst has been in the role of Elizabeth for nearly two decades, with the exception of a short period in 2011, when she was fired from the soap. Massive amounts of negative feedback from fans over that decision quickly led to her being rehired.

General Hospital airs Monday-Friday at 3 p.m. on ABC.
