Katie Holmes might be better known for her personal life than her work in Hollywood, but it looks like the actress wants to make some big changes when it comes to her career. In fact, the former Dawson's Creek star admits that she would love to be more behind rather than in front of a camera after making her directorial debut in the new film, All We Had.

The movie, which is about a single homeless mother trying to raise her teenage daughter, is Holmes' first directorial effort, even though she also plays Rita, the mom in the film, which made its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival this past week.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Holmes says that she would definitely love to direct more, even though she was absolutely nervous about her audiences would react to her first film as a director.

She said, "I'm incredibly intimidated because I'm doing something I haven't done before. As an artist, I hope people connect to this story. But as a woman in Hollywood, I hope to do it more, so I hope it has some success because I want to be part of creating stories and choosing the stories that are put out there."

What's more, Holmes says she's completely aware of the stigma that comes with other actors who feel wary about working with female filmmakers.

The actress explains, "Then don't! [laughs] But you need to concentrate on the work of the person rather than the gender. If you're nervous about it, then figure out what you're nervous about exactly and fix that."

She added, "I'm excited, there's a lot of great stuff happening. Even at this festival - it's great that one-third of the Tribeca films are directed by women. I'm looking forward to seeing some."
