There has been a lot of buzz and anticipation surrounding a pivotal chase scene in Jason Bourne.

In a recent interview, Matt Damon, who plays the titular character, and director Paul Greengrass dished about the incredible scene which is going to set the tone for the movie.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Greengrass revealed that the scene is very distinctive to the Bourne series.

"It's the kind of action sequence you can only see in a Bourne movie," Greengrass said. "It marries action with a really intense, emotionally truthful next chapter in the Jason Bourne story."

Damon actually gave the publication some context on how the storyline leads to the chase. The scene portrays a chase scene during an austerity riot in Athens, wherein Bourne will be reunited with Nicky (Julia Stiles).

"Life out in the cold isn't working for either of them," Damon said. "Nicky uses the riot for cover to meet with him, but she gets followed, and that sets the plot in motion."

Damon went on to speak about his experience filming the scene, which was set in Tenerife, Spain, standing in for Athens.

"Never for one second did I not feel like I was in the middle of some austerity riot," Damon said. "I don't know if it was something specific to Tenerife or that they were really excited to be in this movie or some combination of the two, but they [the extras] were awesome."

During Universal's presentation at the recently held CinemaCon, a new trailer for Jason Bourne was unveiled and producer Frank Marshal also dished about the other epic chase scene in the film.

Entertainment Weekly reported from the event and offered some crucial soundbites from Marshal. The producer promised that the much talked about chase scene filmed in Las Vegas is actually going to be worth it, revealing that it "was the best Bourne chase scene ever."

Jason Bourne will release on July 29, 2016.
