During the first round of eliminations last week for Dancing With the Stars, dancer Cheryl Burke wrote in a blog that she thought for sure she and D.L. Hughley would be the first to go.

Burke and the comedian scored in last place when they got to the elimination round. However, they were saved even before contestant and former Olympian Dorothy Hamill eliminated herself from the show. Hamill was suffering from back pains and was advised to quit by medical physicians.

In Burke's blog on People, she wrote, "I didn't think there was any way we were staying. We were eight points behind the second to lowest couple. I know D.L. already packed his clothes for New York. I was practicing my farewell speech."

The couple scored low in the first week with their Cha Cha routine, and will perform the salsa on Monday night for the prom themed episode.

Burke added that the performance will be fun and is an attempt to bring out Hughley's character.

"D.L. was a pimp back in his day. People would pay him to go to prom. He's been to more than five of them. If a girl couldn't find a date, he would be that guy they would call," she wrote.

Burke had won twice on DWTS with Drew Lachey and with Emmitt Smith. In her blog she adds that contestants Zendaya Coleman and Kellie Pickler are "amazing."

She admitted in her blog that Hughley isn't the best dancer, but knows he'll try his best.

"He's not going to be the best dancer. We know that. But as long as he gives me his best and tried hard, that's all that matters," she wrote.

Dancing With the Stars starts tonight at 9 p.m.
