Justin Lin is expected to direct Space Jam 2, a sequel to the very popular 1996 film.

Lin is apparently in talks to direct Space Jam 2, according to a new Variety report. The director is most famous for directing four Fast & Furious movies (3 through 6) in addition to the upcoming Star Trek Beyond.

Rumors of a sequel to Space Jam have been looming for years. The rumors started to become more of a reality when NBA superstar LeBron James signed a deal with Warner Bros. in 2014.

James had previously spoken to the Miami Sun Herald about the 1996 film.

"I've always loved Space Jam. It was one of my favorite movies growing up. If I have the opportunity, it will be great," he teased.

James previously had a supporting role in the 2015 comedy hit Trainwreck. This was the NBA star's film acting debut, but he received rave reviews from critics. He has also appeared as himself in shows like Entourage and Survivor's Remorse and lent his voice to animated shows SpongeBob SquarePants and Teen Titans Go!

Many Space Jam fans are reacting to the news that Lin will direct and James will star in the sequel. Not everyone is happy about it, but you can check out the full gamut of reactions below:
