Would the real Quantico terrorist please step forward?

Ah, yes, Drew, I see you've raised your hand. Are you sure? You can't take this back, you know. No? All right, lets try and find out if you're the real deal or merely another marionette.

Quantico has had its far share of terrorist suspects over the last 20 episodes, but only two have ever actually confessed to their wrong doings. Elias revealed his involvement with the Grand Central bombing, but became one with the sidewalk before he could spill any really helpful details. Now, there's Drew, a washed out NAT who actually has an axe to grind with the FBI and his former classmates.

While Drew certainly seems like a good candidate for the Voice, the season's twists have left viewers questioning ever clue that comes their way. To build the case against NFL star, series creator Josh Safran laid out his argument while speaking with Entertainment Weekly.

"We always knew it would be people involved in the Quantico side of the world, and we loved the idea that Drew, Iris, and Will were all in the class that vetted our class, and once we knew that, we knew that it was someone before Alex had gotten there that would be involved," Safran explained.

After Alex caused Drew's dismissal for a tremor that may or may not have been merely from nerves (we won't ever actually find out), the athlete apparently hatched a dark plan for revenge.

"It's the FBI for failing him for something that was beyond his control, and something that isn't necessarily even true. [The shaking] could simply have been nerves or anxiety... it was beyond his control, and he lost so much," Safran elucidated. "That was the motivation, not so much what he has against Alex."

Does Safran's explanation have you convinced Drew is the ultimate big bad, or are you sure another twist will make him a mere pawn? Find out when Quantico airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC. Click the video below to see a preview for the series' penultimate episode, "Closure."
