'Hollywood Exes' Cast: Mayte Garcia Remembers Prince's Animal Rights Views [VIDEO]
Mayte Garcia, formerly of VH1’s Hollywood Exes has reminded fans of her ex-husband, Prince’s, thoughts on animal rights just after his passing.
Garcia, who was known for being a huge advocate for animal rights on the popular series, pointed out that Prince felt the same. She shared a quote from the singer just after he died on April 21 that reads, “We need an Animal Rights Day when all slaughterhouses shut down.”
Garcia added the caption, “Couldn’t agree more…”

Fans also echoed similar sentiments in the comment section.
One wrote, “I love this picture and I love that he felt so much passion for the life of animals.”
Another added that Prince’s lifestyle off the stage caused them to make a change as well.
“I stopped eating meat because of Prince and miss Mayte…Mayte to me has always been Prince’s real and only flower…”
Still, some fans pointed out that Prince might not have necessarily lived the Vegan lifestyle 100 percent.
“Was Prince Vegan?! Weren’t his shoes made out of leather or did he wear pleather?! Just curious”
That started a slew of responses from other fans, who questioned the same thing.
“From most of what I remember/saw his shoes were made from the same fabric to match his outfit. I don’t believe he wore leather. This man wouldn’t wear leather and be a hypocrite!”
Another added that considering Prince’s shocking passing, whether or not he wore leather doesn’t really matter.
“Maybe you should pick a battle with someone who can defend themselves,” they added.
Prince’s cause of death still has yet to be determined.
