“I’m proud to be here tonight to present the 2016 Ardy ‘Hero’ Award to not only someone I work with, recorded with, who I know, and what my brother, Blake Shelton, knows, truly has a heart of gold,” Williams said, via Hollywood Life, before welcoming Stefani to the stage.

“Let’s get this straight right here. This [Williams] is my hero, right here, one of my biggest heroes is this guy! I love you so much!” Stefani responded after joining Williams in front of the audience.

Months ago, while working together on The Voice season nine, Stefani spoke of her co-star during an interview.

"He's literally like an angel," Stefani told Entertainment Tonight last summer "He'll, like, sit here [pointing to her shoulder] and I'll be like, 'Really? You just said that right now?' It's so incredible to be around him. I love him."

And Williams, who worked with Stefani on her 2005 hit "Hollaback Girl," as well as many others, had just as kind words for Stefani.

"Gwen is in the most free place that I feel like she's ever been since I've known her as a human being," he dished in November. "Not just creatively, but as a human being. She's floating right now."
