Some may have thought it would be awkward that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson would show up to the same event-- but it's more bizarre than expected.

On Monday, Hollywood exes Stewart and Pattinson attended the 2016 MET Gala where they both dressed super fashionably. The actress sported a sparkling black and white gown while her former boyfriend wore a white tuxedo.

So what was it about this event that could've made it uncomfortable on everyone's behalf?

As it turns out, someone else showed up to the event who had an unfortunate connection with Stewart in the past-- Liberty Ross, the ex-wife of director Rupert Sanders.

For those who don't remember, Stewart allegedly had an affair with Sanders while he was married to Ross and while the actress, herself, was dating Pattinson. Stewart and Sanders worked together in the film Snow White and the Huntsman.

Overall though, there haven't been too many words on any awkward encounters. And considering that the affair reportedly happened years ago, odds are everyone has moved on.

In fact, Pattinson previously spoke with Numero Homme on how he's typically known for playing Edward in the Twilight films, but wants to keep expanding his range.

"I imagine the audience kept a certain image of me," the actor said. "I always feel like I have to prove myself. I did not have enough lead roles to make the people forget about it or to see me any differently. Waiting for that, I follow my path, with the constant reminder to diversify myself."

Becoming part of the vampire trilogy turned Pattinson's life around, something that took a while to understand.

"I had a chaotic progression, with moments of explosions," he admitted. "It took years to digest what happened to me, the movies' success, the celebrity...[Before] I did not have a career's plan, not particular ambition. I had to create them from time to time."
