Outlander season 2 isn't even halfway over, but fans are already clamoring for a renewal. From what showrunner Ron Moore has to say, it sounds like viewers will get their wish.

Starz handed out an early renewal to the historical fiction/sci-fi/romance hybrid during its freshman run and, with a little bit a luck, Outlander might receive a similar offer this in the next few months.

"[There's] nothing official yet but I'm very optimistic and we're actively starting to plan," Moore said of season 3 on Friday.

Titled Voyager, Diana Gabeldon's third piece of the Outlander puzzle would provide the basis for the series' next adventure. Sending Claire (Caitriona Balfe) everywhere from the 20th century to the 18th, from land to sea, from Scotland to Hispaniola, the novel would provide another set of unique challenges for writers. "Very exciting to talk about the ships." Moore teased on Twitter. "Whole season looks like a lot of fund. Very challengeing, but that's Outlander.

While season 2 proved tricky due to Dragonfly in Amber's habit of hopping across centuries, Moore explained that Voyager's head-scratchers would crop up in the production phase.

As always, the series will carefully consider what plot points need to be removed, revamped, or reordered. A non-issue for fans who only discovered Claire and Jamie (Sam Heughan) on their TV sets, the changes proved a clear time line while also keeping book readers on their toes.
