Teen Wolf's Dylan O'Brien is a busy man, injuries or not.

The actor is currently recovering from a "concussion, facial fracture and lacerations" sustained on the set of The Maze Runner: The Death Cure, but the 24-year-old MTV star isn't wasting anytime planning for the future. Just because O'Brien's career is temporarily on hold while he convalesces, that doesn't mean he can't enter into negotiations to play American Assassin's Mitch Rapp.

Penned by Vince Flynn, the political thriller series soared onto the New York Times Best Seller list in the early 2000s, since spawning 14 sequels (American Assassin itself didn't drop until 2010 and serves as one of two prequels to the original Transfer of Power). Mitch is a counter-terrorism CIA operative tasked with derailing attacks that have their roots in the Middle East, often going to extremes to achieve his goal.

"O'Brien will play the title character, who ruthlessly carries out covert counter-terrorist operations for the CIA in the book series," Deadline announced. "A deal is expected to make shortly, ending a long search for what is expected to be a star-making role."

O'Brien showcased his dramatic chops in season 3 of Teen Wolf, leading Stiles down a darker path that the series has yet to shake. The Maze Runner series saw the actor further shake his comic relief label as Thomas, and snagging to role of Mitch would solidify O'Brien's status as an action star.

With The Death Cure on hold and another film seemingly on the way, how will O'Brien make time for Teen Wolf? Stiles was set for a major season 6 arc, but, considering the cast has already spent a month filming without him, we have to wonder if Scott's BFF will be MIA. Work is piling up, and it remains to be seen which production will take precedence or if O'Brien will somehow managed to honor all his commitments.
