There are discussions going on that suggest we may get another season of Netflix's Making a Murderer centered on Steven Avery.

Making a Murderer captivated the nation when it was released in December, and many fans began clamoring for more. The docuseries ends without a real resolution for Avery, who remains in prison to this day for the murder of Teresa Halbach, but some attorneys are still attempting to prove his innocence.

Kathleen Zellner is Avery's new attorney and she has been tweeting frequently about the mounting evidence she is finding that Avery is, in fact, innocence in the death of Halbach. Now there's news that Making a Murderer filmmakers Laura Ricciardi and Moira Demos have been contacting Zellner to continue this story.

"'One of the most obvious [major developments] is that Steven Avery now has a new attorney, Kathleen Zellner, who seems to have a distinguished career turning over wrongful convictions, and in many of those cases actually solving the crime," Ricciardi said in a new Time Out London interview. "Steven is excited and grateful to have new counsel. And we've been talking to Kathleen Zellner about the potential of filming with her and continuing to follow the story."

Netflix has not officially announced a second season for Making a Murderer, but based on the positive reaction they've received for the docuseries, it seems pretty likely that they would be interested in producing one if Ricciardi and Demos are willing to do so.

Ricciardi also spoke about Brendan Dassey, Avery's nephew who was also sent to prison for the murder and who was shown in the docuseries as well. Unfortunately for Dassey, not much has changed since the last episode of the series.

"Technically speaking, Brendan's case is where it was when the series finished," Ricciardi said. "His habeas petition is sitting on the federal magistrate's desk. Everybody is awaiting the magistrate's decision on his case. There's really no schedule or timetable for it. His lawyers told us they might have one or two days' notice."

Making a Murderer is currently available to stream in full on Netflix.
