Someone has expressed interest in playing Cable in the sequel to Deadpool.

In an interview with Nerdist on Thursday, The Expendables actor Dolph Lundgren mentioned that he'd be down to play the role since he'd like to appear in the film with the guy who has the "funny mask," referring to Deadpool.

"Isn't there a character named Cable that's coming?" Lundgren asked. "Like, he's a big guy?"

The actor was then asked if he would consider playing Cable in the movie.

"Well, I guess I could kick some butt doing that, I suppose," he said. "We'll see."

Whoever plays Cable in the sequel, the important thing is that he contrasts from the leading hero, according to director Tim Miller. Speaking to IGN on what Cable needs to be like, he mentioned details on what Deadpool needs.

"There's a lot about Cable's history that I like because he's so intertwined with the world of X-Men," Miller said. "Why he was put together for Deadpool- other than that he was in a comic that wasn't selling well and Deadpool was in a comic that wasn't selling well so they put them together- it's the same reason we had Colossus; he's a straight man. And I think Deadpool needs a straight man."

"Cable is the ultimate, archetypal, silent, strong and cynical warrior, which Deadpool is not," the director added.

Screenwriter Rhett Reese added more traits about Cable that make him unlike Deadpool.

"Strength, gravitas, a purposefulness that Deadpool doesn't have," Rhett explained. "Deadpool's kind of got ADD, and we think of Cable as someone who locks onto something and is going to get that thing solved no matter what."

Deadpool 2 is expected to hit theaters sometime next year.
