Fans are clearly emotionally invested in Jussie Smollett’s character, Jamal Lyon, on Empire; and so is one of his co-stars.

Gabby Sidibe, who plays Lucious Lyon’s assistant Becky on the show, made it clear via Twitter that she didn’t think Smollett hinting that he was leaving the hit series was funny at all.

Her rant began when Smollett cleared the air on Twitter after it was obvious his character was not going to die in the season finale that aired Wednesday.

Smollett posted a video on Twitter that featured Sidibe as he hoped to explain his cryptic tweet.

“Okay, first of all, I said ‘I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Empire Fox’… Which is true. I said, ‘I love you all.’ Which I do. I said, ‘Time to go make some music and movies.’ Which I am!”

But Sidibe, along with many of their Empire fans, were not amused.

She yelled, “Let me light that a** up real quick… What you said was… First of all, first of all… Your timing was F**cked up chief.”

We can’t argue with her there. Smollett posted the tweet after his character was shot and faced a life-threatening wound on the episode before the season finale. Smollett included the caption, “Listen 2 my words… I’ll see y’all season 3. #IAintGoingNoWhere #IAintNoDumbHo #StillIRise #EmpireFinale #empire”
