Amanda Bynes continued to spark controversy when she was seen on Monday in Times Square, N.Y, smoking what looks to be a suspicious-looking hand-rolled cigarette.

The actress was on her way to a gym, after getting kicked out of a different one upon suspicious behavior, when the photographs were taken. News outlets that reported on the pictures headlined stories of Bynes' behavior by saying that she was smoking weed or having a "joint," though nothing has been confirmed by the actress or her reps.

Rumors earlier in the year said the 27-year-old was threatened with an eviction from her New York City apartment after complaints from neighbors that she was smoking pot. She explained the situation to Celebuzz in a text message and said the claims are all false.

Since she retired from acting and moved to New York, the actress has been going downhill with a string of odd behaviors, including her involvement in a hit-and-run and most recently acting out in a gym class.

Bynes told Us Weekly in February she wants to lose weight but on Monday, she was reportedly asked to leave a gym when she showed up in "fishnets and a leotard that looked like lingerie," according to the New York Post.

Instead of following guidelines, onlookers said Bynes walked out onto the mat, spinned in circles, mumbled to herself, and then sat down and cried after a wig she was wearing fell off. Following two weeks in a row of her strange behavior at the gym, the actress was kicked out after staff became concerned about her manner and worried she might be a hazard to other people in the class, according to the report.

She expressed her frustration about the reports via Twitter:
