Fox is moving the final season of Bones off of its fall schedule, the network revealed Friday.

Bones will no longer air its final season this fall on Fox; instead, the final season has been pushed to early 2017. In its place, the promising new baseball drama Pitch will air Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

Fox had originally planned to air the final season of Bones Thursdays at 9 p.m. in the fall.

Fans of Bones are familiar with Fox's frequent timeslot changes. The procedural has aired just about every night of the week since premiering in 2005, never settling on a consistent timeslot for more than a couple years. While Bones is still expected to air Thursdays at 9 p.m. when the final season airs in winter 2017, it's still a bit of annoyance to fans.

The final season, which will only have 12 episodes, is expected to be a big send-off for the series, which stars Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz. Bones showrunner Michael Peterson recently spoke about the many guest stars he wants to bring back for the final season.

"We want this to be a grand ride off into the sunset for the final 12 episodes for next season. We will bring back as many guest cast as humanly possible and whoever is available," Peterson told Parade in April. "We'd love to get Cyndi [Lauper] back. We don't have Betty [White] for the second half of this season, but we'd love to have her come back. Next season, we have one episode in particular that we would love to have her back for. We are leaving it wide open."

Fox previously revealed that Bones was renewed for a 12th and final season back in February.

Bones currently airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Fox.
