One Direction band member Zayn Malik may propose to girlfriend Perrie Edwards "any time", according to reports. Malik has been dating the Little Mix singer since late 2011 and rumors are rife that the pair plan to get married after growing even closer since claims that Malike cheated on her in January.

An insider told Reveal, "Zayn's ready to settle down and take the next step with Perrie. They've been discussing getting engaged with family and friends and everyone thinks it's a great idea. Zayn's deadly serious about it and it looks like he could propose at any time."

The source continued: "After the scandal Perrie wanted a trial period to see if they could get through it. It worked and they've ended up growing even closer. Perrie says they could be engaged as early as the summer and that they'd have a big wedding for all their friends - including loads of celebrity pals."

However, other One Direction band members are reportedly against the idea of Malik tying the knot so early.

However, the insider said the 20-year-old is determined to marry Edwards. "Zayn's determined to press ahead, and says he knows exactly what he's doing.

Edwards had previously spoken to OMG! about marrying Malik. "I think it's obvious who I'd marry. It would be Zayn," she said when she was asked about who she would choose between Malik and some other One Direction bandmates.  Though it was a fun trivial question, it still gave the press a reason to speak about a potential marriage between the two young lovebirds.

Rumors that Malik cheated on Edwards also circulated back in August last year. At the time, Edwards told The Sun: "I just think it's funny. You have to trust each other. Me and Zayn are really happy. We see each other quite a lot, the only time we don't is when he's in America. It's really hard. But I trust him."
