Kevin Bacon apologized for posting on Twitter a spoiler for his hit television show The Following.

The actor, who plays FBI agent Ryan Hardy in the series, re-posted a Twitter comment that gave away important details of an episode plot and he ended up angering fans. 

The episode with the described scene aired on Monday but had not yet been shown abroad when Bacon posted the spoiler. The former Footloose star later apologized for his mistake, even uploading a video of himself repeating the phrase “my bad” three times.

He tweeted on Tuesday the following:

The Following is about serial killers who have a way of communicating and connecting with each other, and who form alliances as they leave a trail of blood across the country. A brilliant and charismatic, yet psychotic serial killer brings them all together and activates a cult of believers who follow his commands.

Bacon plays a disgraced agent who’s called in by officials for help when the serial killer escapes from prison and starts gaining followers The actor said in an interview with ABC News that he wanted to be the hero because he liked the complex heroic traits that came with his role.
