Karen King of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop Atlanta is now a free woman after she was taken into custody earlier this week in Atlanta.

King was arrested after she allegedly used someone else’s identity to buy a luxury item at Saks Fifth Avenue. Interestingly enough, she was getting ready to host an event but was met with a handful of policemen who put her in handcuffs.

She began her statement by revealing she had no idea why she was getting arrested. In fact when she saw all of the policemen, she thought someone had passed away or her son, Sas, was in trouble. But she was shocked moments later when police made it clear she was the one they were looking for.

She added that her arrest was a little weird as they used a printout from her Instagram page to identify her versus a mug shot from the warrant.
“I kept asking them what they were arresting me for and they said they would tell me at the station.”

King then learned she had three warrants out for identity fraud, forgery and a third charge she couldn’t recall.

“I was like, ‘What did I do? What did I take? What do I have? My Maserati? My Jeep? My furniture?”

Police then told her someone who previously worked for Saks Fifth Avenue was in trouble for allowing someone to purchase $5,000 worth of clothing. That employee now works for King.

“I was like, ‘How does that involve me?’ They were saying that from the police report when they arrested him, he said the person that came in was Karen King. He never mentioned this to me. I don’t know none of the details yet. My lawyer was like, ‘What the [heck?!]’ “

King denied being the person who got the clothes.

“I’m a customer at Saks Fifth Avenue. I pull clothes from Saks Fifth Avenue for work. Why would I go to a store that I frequently shop at? It makes no sense.”

She added that she believes her newfound fame is what sparked authorities’ interest in taking her in. She made it clear she is innocent and is slated for court on June 7. She is out on a $30,000 bail.
