Richard Ashcroft opened up on Prince's death and what it teaches all musicians.

On Friday, TV3 posted details from The Verve singer who mentioned that the passing of Prince last month should point how amazing music truly is.

"When you lose great artists like that, it gives someone like me- and it should give us all- more of a sense of urgency because that guy can't go in his studio today and put down another great tune or an idea, whereas I can," Ashcroft told Absolute Radio. "It really wakes you up to as what the gift of music is."

The singer also revealed that "When Doves Cry" is his favorite song from Prince and one that will always stick with him.

"Prince took the bass out," Ashcroft said. "He astonished the people in the studio. Nobody took the bass out of a song! It's a very minimal sounding, yet incredibly moving song. I can't remember the age I was when I first heard it but it was one of the first songs that I became addicted to. It was one of the first songs I played over and over again. He was a great influence on a lot of musicians and his music will live forever."

A number of celebrities have been discussing the shocking passing of the "Purple Rain" artist since it happened on April 21. Model and actress Carmen Electra, who shared a tight connection with Prince, recently opened up to Access Hollywood on how much it hurt to find out that he had died.

"I was very confused when I heard about Prince's death. I mean, it just happened out of nowhere and the whole world was grieving, not only his friends and family, but the entire world," she said. "And I was in a hotel room at the time and I was watching CNN, and it was just 'Prince, Prince, Prince,' and it was really devastating."
