Multiple early reports have confirmed  the death of legendary singer Whitney Houston, but so far, the cause of her death remains a mystery.

She was pronounced dead at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles on Saturday at 3:55 p.m. (6:55 p.m. ET), a spokesman told CNN. The spokesman said there were efforts to resuscitate her.

There were no obvious signs of criminal intent, Police Lt. Mark Rosen told the publication. The cause of her death is being investigated.

The singer had previously battled alcohol and drug addiction.

Houston is among the most awarded female artists of all time. She was also one of the world's best selling artists, with more than 170 million albums, singles and videos worldwide sold, according to her official website.
