There might be a new contender for the part of Cable in Deadpool 2.

Rumor currently has it that pro wrestler Adam Copeland (also known as Edge) might play the character in the anticipated sequel ever since a Twitter user suggested he should take on the role.

Copeland responded to this tweet last Friday by saying he'd be down for it.

At this point, it's unclear if the opportunity will ever come up, but Copeland might be someone to keep in mind for the mystery role.

Whoever does play the part, it would need to be someone who can contrast from Deadpool as the leading man, according to director Tim Miller. Speaking to IGN about Cable, Miller explained what traits he needs to have.

"There's a lot about Cable's history that I like because he's so intertwined with the world of X-Men," Miller said. "Why he was put together for Deadpool- other than that he was in a comic that wasn't selling well and Deadpool was in a comic that wasn't selling well so they put them together- it's the same reason we had Colossus; he's a straight man. And I think Deadpool needs a straight man."

Screenwriter Rhett Reese added some other details that need to be seen in Cable.

"Strength, gravitas, a purposefulness that Deadpool doesn't have," Reese explained. "Deadpool's kind of got ADD, and we think of Cable as someone who locks onto something and is going to get that thing solved no matter what."

Deadpool 2 is expected to hit theaters sometime next year.
