Jennifer Hudson is reportedly performing a tribute to Whitney Houston at the Grammy Awards 2012 Ceremony Sunday evening at the Staples Center in Los Angeles .

Hudson's performance will be a "respectful musical tribute" to the late singer, the L.A. Times reports. Houston died today at age 48 at a Beverly Hills, California hotel from unknown reasons.

ETOnline reports Chaka Kahn will also perform in the tribute.

"It's too fresh in everyone's memory to do more at this time, but we would be remiss if we didn't recognize Whitney's remarkable contribution to music fans in general, and in particular her close ties with the Grammy telecast and her Grammy wins and nominations over the years," Grammy Executive producer Ken Erhlich told the paper.

During her career, Houston won a total of six Grammy Awards. She won three Grammys for Best Pop Vocal Performance in 1986, 1988 and 1994; one for Album of the Year ("The Bodyguard Original Soundtrack") in 1994; one for Record of the Year ("I Will Always Love You") in the same year and one for Best R&B Vocal Performance Female in 2000.

The Grammy Awards will be broadcast on the CBS Television Network from 8-11:30 p.m. (ET/PT) .
