Brie Larson's meteoric rise to the top may include a stop over in the MCU.

The Room star garnered praise for her Oscar-winning performance as Ma in 2015, and her impressive list of credits clearly has not gone unnoticed by the Marvel Studios execs. As of Thursday, Larson was cited as the comic book juggernaut's top choice for the role of Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel.

"It's unknown where negotiations stand, but sources have told Variety that Larson is their first choice, and that she's leaning toward playing the part," the site announced on Wednesday.

Marvel and Larsen have not commented on the rumor.

Captain Marvel won't hit screens until 2019, but fans should expect to meet the heroine in The Avengers: Infinity War Part 1. Captain America: Civil War directors Anthony and Joe Russo accidently name-dropped the character earlier this year. When fans followed up on the comment, the Infinity War directors attempted to cover their gaff.

"Um....Captain Barvel. Totally different character," the pair said, according to Comic Book.

For those unfamiliar with Ms. Danvers, the character starts out as an air force pilot. One of several iterations of the Captain Marvel/Ms. Marvel superhero, Danvers gains her powers when she is subjected to a mix of Kree and human genes.

If you've been following along with the MCU, you are no stranger to the turquoise-hued aliens. Seen in both Guardians of the Galaxy and Agents of SHIELD, the Kree are responsible for creating the Inhumans. They can also be particularly volatile, as seen with Ronan (Lee Pace), the Guardians of the Galaxy villain.

If Danvers does appear in The Avengers: Infinity War Part 1, it will most likely be at the very beginning of her origin story. Viewers should expect her powers to develop in her solo film.
