An answer has finally been revealed on the death of Prince.

After the singer died more than a month ago, there has been a lot of speculation on what exactly went wrong. And according to Wednesday's report from Associated Press, Prince died from an accidental overdose on fentanyl.

The site added that this substance is up to 50 times more potent than heroin. There is also no word on how Prince was able to get the drug, which may or may not have been prescribed. If it turns out that someone prescribed this to him illegally, then he or she could face criminal charges.

Fentanyl has caused other deaths before and is strongly controlled by the Food and Drug Administration.

Chicago-based attorney Gal Pissetzky mentioned that authorities might talk to people connected to Prince to see if any information gets released on how he obtained this drug.

"The investigation may expand to people who surround him," Pissetzky said. "If fentanyl was obtained illegally, I don't think Prince would have gone out to meet someone in a dark alley to get the substance."

It's possible that Prince could've gotten it from someone on the street, which would make the investigation a lot harder.

"It'll be very, very difficult," Pissetzky said. "These guys don't write receipts, and they change phones all the time."

According to a recent report from The Sun, Prince was potentially going to perform at Glastonbury Festival in London this year. His reps were reportedly going to meet with festival boss Michael Eavis to work something out.

"I was going to meet his agent," Eavis said. "It was all planned, but it didn't happen. His death was so sad. That's a real star that we never had."
